As the first non-G8 member to chair the G20, Korea has an important role in building a new world order at the Seoul Summit this November. The G20’s Seoul Summit is more significant than ever because it takes place when deadlines for key agenda items are due. At this juncture, we are pleased to announce that the Korea Capital Market Institute (KCMI), the G20 Research Group at the Munk School of Global Affairs at University of Toronto, and the Chosunilbo will co-host an international pre-summit conference titled, “Toronto, Seoul and Beyond”, sponsored by the Presidential Committee for the G20 Seoul Summit. With participants including finance ministers from Korea and Canada and leading experts from Korea and abroad, this conference presents a forum for in-depth discussions of the Seoul Summit’s main agenda items including how to create a new international financial order, as well as the future of the G20. This timely event, which will be held between the G20 finance ministers meeting and the summit meeting, provides an opportunity to develop a deep understanding of how institutional means can be used for the global development and implementation of agreed standards. The event also offers the opportunity to hear the views of local and international experts in advance of the summit. This conference will be very informative and productive. We are delighted to invite you to this event and look forward to your presence and participation.
