The global financial crisis brought a sea of change not only to the financial regulation paradigm but also the competitive environment surrounding investment banks and various other financial institutions. This environmental change presents big challenges to the Korean financial services industry where the pursuit of a globally competitive investment bank continues with the enactment and implementation of the Financial Investment Services and Capital Market Act. At this juncture, it seems necessary to take a close look at changes in the global financial environment and how global financial institutions are responding. A glimpse of the future can help us set the direction for the development of the Korean capital markets and financial services market. Against the backdrop, Korea Capital Market Institution (KCMI) will host an international conference titled “Financial Services Industry in the Post-Crisis Era”. Mr. Christopher Cox, former Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission will be attending this conference as a keynote speaker. He will share his valuable insights about post-crisis global regulatory developments and trends in the financial services sector. In addition, renowned experts from academia, research and financial institutions will discuss the challenges that investment banks and asset management companies are facing and how they should respond. This event will provide a forum for the future development of the Korean capital markets and financial services industry. All who have a sincere interest in the future of the capital markets and the financial services industry are kindly invited to our conference.
